Field Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Field Engineer to provide technical support, installation, maintenance and fault-finding services across a varied customer base. This role involves working on-site, often independently, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service.

You will be responsible for diagnosing technical issues, completing planned and reactive maintenance, and ensuring equipment and systems operate reliably. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in different environments, managing competing priorities and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical contacts.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, commission, inspect and maintain a range of equipment and systems.
  • Investigate faults, identify root causes and complete effective repairs.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond promptly to service calls.
  • Prepare accurate service reports, job sheets and technical documentation.
  • Provide guidance to customers and colleagues on the safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety procedures, technical standards and regulations.
  • Manage tools, spare parts and vehicle stock responsibly.
  • Escalate complex technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

You will have previous experience in a field-based engineering, maintenance or technical support role, together with a relevant engineering qualification or demonstrable practical expertise. Experience of electrical, mechanical, electronic or control systems would be advantageous, depending on your technical background.

We are looking for someone who is organised, resourceful and confident working without constant supervision. You should be able to read technical drawings and manuals, use digital reporting systems and explain technical information in a clear and professional manner. A full UK driving licence is essential, and willingness to travel and occasionally stay away from home may be required.

What is offered

This position offers a varied workload, ongoing technical development and the opportunity to build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues. You will receive appropriate training, the tools required to perform the role and a package reflecting your skills and experience.
