Field Engineer
We are seeking a practical and customer-focused Field Engineer to provide technical support, installation, maintenance and fault-finding services across a varied range of sites. This role would suit an experienced engineer who enjoys working independently, solving problems on location and delivering a professional service to customers and colleagues.
You will be responsible for attending planned and reactive service visits, assessing equipment and systems, and completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The position involves regular travel, occasional overnight stays and working in a range of operational environments. Full training will be provided on company-specific systems and equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Install, commission, inspect and maintain technical equipment and associated systems.
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Respond to service calls and complete planned maintenance visits within agreed timescales.
- Provide clear technical explanations and professional support to customers on site.
- Complete accurate service reports, job records, risk assessments and other required documentation.
- Work closely with internal teams to escalate complex issues and support continuous improvement.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, industry standards and site-specific requirements.
About you
You will have proven experience in a field-based engineering, maintenance or technical support role. A relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience is desirable. You should be confident using hand tools, test equipment and digital reporting systems, with the ability to read technical drawings, manuals and wiring diagrams where required.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a methodical approach and excellent attention to detail. You must be comfortable managing your own workload, prioritising urgent tasks and communicating effectively with customers at all levels. A full UK driving licence is required, and flexibility to travel is essential.
In return, you will receive a competitive salary, ongoing technical development, a company vehicle or vehicle allowance, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in a supportive engineering environment.
