Key responsibilities
- Develop feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs and technical reports for water and wastewater schemes.
- Undertake hydraulic assessments, network modelling and asset condition reviews where required.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations and tender documentation.
- Support the planning, procurement and delivery of infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental and planning specialists.
- Attend site visits, surveys, design reviews and construction meetings, providing technical advice as necessary.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, risks and quality, ensuring work is delivered to agreed standards.
- Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, design standards, health and safety requirements and environmental obligations.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline, and ideally have professional registration or be working towards Chartered Engineer status. Experience in the design or delivery of municipal water and wastewater projects is highly desirable.
You should have a sound understanding of relevant UK standards, regulations and industry guidance, together with strong analytical, report-writing and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with hydraulic modelling software, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar design tools would be advantageous.
Effective communication and collaboration are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently when required. A full UK driving licence may be necessary for site-based activities. In return, you will receive opportunities for professional development and involvement in varied, technically challenging infrastructure projects.
