We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of projects involving surface water, stormwater, flood risk, drainage, and water management. The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable, and technically robust solutions for a range of infrastructure and environmental challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects from early feasibility and investigation through to detailed design, construction support, and completion.

Responsibilities will include preparing hydrological and hydraulic assessments; developing drainage strategies and flood risk assessments; undertaking catchment, river, and surface water studies; and producing calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. You will use relevant modelling and design software to assess system performance, test proposed solutions, and interpret technical data. The role will also involve site inspections, reviewing surveys and third-party information, supporting planning and permitting activities, and coordinating with clients, contractors, regulators, and other technical specialists. You may also assist with project programming, fee proposals, quality assurance, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in water resources or infrastructure design. Familiarity with hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools, drainage design principles, flood risk management, and applicable technical standards is required. Experience with GIS, CAD, data analysis, or programming would be advantageous. You should be confident communicating technical information clearly, managing competing priorities, and working collaboratively while maintaining a high standard of accuracy. A professional qualification or progress toward chartered status is desirable. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project and site locations may also be required.
