Project Engineer (Water)
We are seeking a Project Engineer (Water) to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects from design through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work across a range of infrastructure, treatment, network and asset improvement schemes, contributing to safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes. You will collaborate with project managers, designers, contractors, suppliers and client representatives to ensure that technical, commercial and programme requirements are achieved.
Your responsibilities will include developing and reviewing technical designs, specifications, drawings, calculations and work packages; supporting project planning, cost control, risk management and change management; and monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, relevant standards and health and safety requirements. You will attend site meetings, undertake inspections, resolve technical queries and assist with commissioning, testing and handover activities. The role will also involve preparing progress reports, maintaining accurate project records and contributing to continuous improvement across engineering and delivery processes.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering, together with relevant experience in the water, utilities or wider infrastructure sector. A sound understanding of water and wastewater systems, construction practices, engineering standards and regulatory requirements is essential. Experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary teams, along with the ability to interpret technical information and manage competing priorities, would be highly advantageous. You should be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Familiarity with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, as well as professional registration or progress towards professional membership, is desirable. A full UK driving licence may be required, depending on project location.
