Staff Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Staff Project Engineer to lead the technical delivery of complex engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. This is a senior role for a technically credible professional who can provide direction, solve challenging problems and build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

You will take ownership of engineering packages, ensuring that designs, specifications and project outputs meet required standards for quality, safety, performance and cost. The role will involve working closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, contractors and stakeholders to coordinate activities and maintain progress against agreed objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the technical planning and execution of engineering projects and work packages.
  • Develop and review designs, calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage technical interfaces.
  • Identify project risks, resolve engineering issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Monitor project progress, resources, budgets and deliverables, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Support procurement, supplier management, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, quality procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, lessons learned and the development of engineering processes.

About you

You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline and have substantial experience delivering engineering projects in a complex technical environment. Professional registration, or a clear commitment towards achieving it, would be advantageous.

You should be confident interpreting technical information, making sound engineering judgements and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience of project controls, risk management, design assurance and relevant engineering software is desirable. Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.

This position offers the opportunity to work on technically engaging projects, influence delivery strategy and make a meaningful contribution within a collaborative and forward-thinking engineering team.
