Water Resources Staff Engineer (May 2027 Grad)
We are seeking a motivated Water Resources Staff Engineer graduating in May 2027 to join a collaborative team delivering practical, sustainable solutions for water, stormwater, and environmental infrastructure projects. This entry-level role is suited to an engineering student who is eager to develop technical skills while contributing to projects that support communities, protect natural resources, and improve resilience to flooding and water-related challenges. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and collaborate with project managers, planners, environmental specialists, surveyors, and clients.
Responsibilities may include assisting with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses; preparing stormwater management, drainage, floodplain, and water resources studies; developing design plans, technical calculations, specifications, reports, and permit applications; and supporting the design of channels, culverts, detention facilities, storm sewer systems, green infrastructure, and other water-related improvements. You may also assist with field investigations, site assessments, construction support, data collection, project coordination, and technical reviews. The role will involve using engineering software and geographic information systems to evaluate alternatives, prepare models, interpret results, and communicate recommendations clearly. Occasional travel to project sites and participation in meetings may be required.
Qualified candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering, or a closely related discipline, with an expected graduation date of May 2027. Coursework or project experience in hydrology, hydraulics, open-channel flow, stormwater management, water quality, or environmental engineering is preferred. Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar applications is advantageous, but training will be provided. Strong analytical, written, verbal, and organisational skills are essential, along with attention to detail, sound judgement, and a willingness to learn. Candidates should be able to manage priorities, work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence, safety, ethical practice, and sustainable engineering.
