You will be responsible for establishing project scope, budgets, schedules and governance arrangements, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed objectives. Working with internal teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders, you will provide clear direction and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage multiple capital projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, risk registers, change controls and reporting documentation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners.
  • Monitor progress, cost, quality, performance and compliance, taking corrective action where required.
  • Lead tendering, contract administration and commercial negotiations in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable health and safety, environmental, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide accurate updates to senior stakeholders and present recommendations, risks and financial forecasts.
  • Capture lessons learned and support the continuous improvement of capital delivery processes.

About you

You will have a proven track record of managing capital projects, ideally within a complex operational, property, engineering, construction or infrastructure environment. You should be confident managing budgets, programmes and competing priorities, with strong knowledge of project governance, procurement and contract management.

Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential, together with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels. You will be analytical, commercially astute and capable of making sound decisions in a changing environment. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent, would be advantageous, as would relevant technical or construction experience.

This role offers the opportunity to make a visible contribution through the delivery of high-quality projects, while working in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
