Utilities Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of utility infrastructure projects from initial planning and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. The role will involve managing projects across areas such as electricity, water, gas, telecommunications and associated civil engineering works, ensuring that all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
You will be responsible for developing project programmes, budgets, risk registers and delivery plans, while coordinating design consultants, contractors, utility providers, local authorities and internal stakeholders. Key duties will include monitoring progress against milestones, managing changes and commercial issues, reviewing technical information, coordinating site activities and ensuring that project documentation is accurate and up to date. You will lead regular progress meetings, provide clear reports to senior stakeholders and take proactive action to resolve issues, minimise delays and maintain quality standards. The role will also require close attention to health, safety and environmental requirements, including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, permits, codes of practice and company procedures.
Applicants should have proven experience managing utility, infrastructure, construction or engineering projects, ideally within a complex stakeholder environment. A sound understanding of utility networks, construction methodologies, project controls, procurement and contract management is required, together with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical reports. You will be highly organised, commercially aware and confident managing competing priorities. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective working relationships with delivery teams, suppliers and external partners. A relevant qualification in project management, civil engineering, utilities or a related discipline would be advantageous, along with experience of recognised project management frameworks and health and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to manage high-profile infrastructure projects and make a tangible contribution to the delivery of resilient utility services.
