Utilities Renewable Energy Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of renewable energy and infrastructure projects across the utilities sector. This role will be responsible for managing projects from initial feasibility and business case development through to design, construction, commissioning and handover. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities will include developing detailed project plans, programmes, budgets and risk registers; managing procurement, contracts, change control and commercial performance; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones and performance measures. You will oversee technical studies, consenting and permitting activities, grid connection requirements, environmental considerations and construction readiness. The role will also involve preparing clear reports for senior stakeholders, resolving delivery issues, maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements and quality procedures. You will promote effective collaboration between operational, engineering, finance, commercial and regulatory teams while maintaining strong relationships with external partners and local communities.
Applicants should have proven experience managing complex energy, utilities, infrastructure or renewable energy projects, ideally including solar, wind, battery storage, grid modernisation or associated network works. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent, would be advantageous, alongside a strong understanding of project governance, cost control, risk management and contract administration. You will need excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a changing environment and present complex information clearly. A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach is essential, together with a commitment to delivering sustainable projects that provide long-term value. Relevant experience of working with regulated utilities, public authorities, landowners or supply-chain partners would also be beneficial.
