Water/Wastewater Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from inception through to completion. The role will involve managing programmes across water treatment, wastewater, networks, pumping stations and associated civil engineering works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will act as the principal point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants and stakeholders, building effective working relationships and providing clear, timely communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include defining project scope, preparing and managing programmes, budgets, risk registers and delivery plans, as well as monitoring progress and implementing corrective action where required. You will coordinate design development, procurement, construction and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, contract requirements, technical standards and environmental obligations. The role will also involve leading project meetings, reviewing contractor performance, managing variations and change control, overseeing health and safety, and preparing accurate reports for senior stakeholders. You will be expected to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to the development of efficient, sustainable solutions for water and wastewater assets.
Applicants should have proven experience managing water or wastewater projects, ideally within a regulated utility, consulting, contracting or civil engineering environment. A strong understanding of project management principles, construction processes, commercial controls and relevant industry regulations is essential. Experience with NEC contracts, design and build delivery, and multidisciplinary project teams would be advantageous. You will need excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills, together with the confidence to make informed decisions in a demanding delivery environment. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline is desirable, and membership of an appropriate professional body would be welcomed. A full driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites may also be required.
