Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from concept and design through construction, commissioning and handover. The role will involve managing projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, utilities and associated civil and mechanical works. You will be responsible for establishing project objectives, developing delivery strategies and ensuring that scope, programme, budget, quality and safety requirements are achieved.

Key responsibilities will include coordinating multidisciplinary design and delivery teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers; preparing and maintaining project programmes, budgets, risk registers and progress reports; managing procurement, contract administration, variations and claims; and ensuring that technical, environmental and regulatory requirements are met. You will lead project meetings, monitor performance against agreed milestones, resolve issues proactively and maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders. The successful candidate will also support business development activities, contribute to bids and proposals, and promote continuous improvement across project delivery processes.

Applicants should have substantial experience managing water or wastewater infrastructure projects, ideally within an engineering consultancy, contractor or utility environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management or a related discipline is preferred. Strong knowledge of project controls, construction methods, health and safety legislation, environmental compliance and relevant industry standards is essential. Professional accreditation or chartered status would be advantageous. You will need excellent leadership, commercial, organisational and communication skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships. Experience with contract forms such as NEC or similar, along with proficiency in common project management and reporting software, would be highly desirable.
