Senior Bridge Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineer (PE)
We are seeking a Senior Bridge Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineer (PE) to lead the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of complex bridge, roadway drainage, and water resources projects. This role will provide technical leadership across hydraulic and hydrologic studies, bridge waterway assessments, floodplain evaluations, scour analysis, stormwater management, and permitting. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, public agencies, contractors, and clients to develop practical, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models; evaluating bridge and culvert openings, channel conveyance, flood impacts, sediment transport, and scour risk; developing drainage and stormwater designs; and preparing technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and permit documentation. You will provide guidance on water resources aspects of transportation and infrastructure projects, oversee quality control and technical compliance, support construction and field investigations, and contribute to project scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals. The role may also involve mentoring junior engineers and coordinating technical work across multiple concurrent assignments.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering and possess a current Professional Engineer (PE) licence, preferably with eligibility to obtain registration in additional jurisdictions as required. Significant experience in bridge hydraulics, transportation drainage, flood risk assessment, and water resources engineering is required, along with strong knowledge of relevant design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes. Proficiency with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, SRH-2D, or equivalent tools is highly desirable. Strong technical writing, communication, project coordination, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
