Senior System RAMS Engineer

We are seeking a Senior System RAMS Engineer to lead reliability, availability, maintainability and safety activities across complex engineering programmes. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance throughout the system lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through design, verification, validation, commissioning and in-service support. You will work closely with systems, software, hardware, operations, maintenance and assurance teams to ensure that RAMS objectives are clearly defined, measurable and achieved.

Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining RAMS strategies, plans, requirements and assurance cases; preparing and reviewing hazard logs, risk assessments, failure mode and effects analyses, fault tree analyses, reliability predictions and maintainability assessments; and supporting the allocation and verification of safety and performance requirements. You will coordinate reliability growth activities, assess design changes, investigate incidents and non-conformities, and provide clear technical recommendations to project stakeholders. The role will also involve reviewing supplier documentation, contributing to design reviews, supporting safety and assurance audits, and producing high-quality technical reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Applicants should have substantial experience in a RAMS, safety engineering or systems assurance role within a complex, regulated engineering environment. A strong understanding of relevant RAMS standards, lifecycle processes, risk management techniques and systems engineering principles is essential. Experience with safety-critical products, infrastructure, transportation, defence, energy or similarly regulated sectors would be advantageous. You will need excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills, together with the ability to influence decisions and explain complex technical issues clearly. A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, mathematics, physics or a related discipline is expected, and professional registration or progress towards chartered status would be desirable.
