We are seeking a Railway Signalling Design and Verification Engineer to support the development, delivery and assurance of safe, compliant signalling systems for complex rail infrastructure projects. You will contribute to projects across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to installation, testing, commissioning and final handover. The role requires a strong understanding of railway signalling principles, safety-critical engineering and the standards governing modern rail systems.

Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing signalling designs, schematics, control tables, functional specifications, application data and associated technical documentation. You will undertake independent design verification, checking that designs are accurate, complete, consistent and compliant with relevant technical standards, project requirements and safety processes. You will identify design risks, non-conformities and interface issues, record findings clearly and work with design teams to ensure that corrective actions are implemented. You may also support hazard analysis, requirements management, configuration control, technical reviews, testing activities and responses to engineering queries.

Applicants should have professional experience in railway signalling design, verification or assurance, ideally gained on infrastructure, renewals, enhancement or signalling technology projects. A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is required, together with knowledge of signalling principles, railway operating rules and applicable standards. Experience with interlocking, level crossings, train detection, points, signals, control systems or route-setting functionality would be advantageous. You should be comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications, using engineering design tools and maintaining accurate records. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement is fundamental to this position.
