We are seeking a motivated Track / Railway Engineer-in-Training to support the planning, design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of railway track and associated infrastructure. The role may involve site visits, office-based design work, technical reporting, data analysis, and coordination with contractors, surveyors, and project teams.

Key responsibilities will include assisting with track alignment and geometry assessments, reviewing inspection and condition data, preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and work packages, and supporting the development of renewal, maintenance, and improvement schemes. You will contribute to site investigations, construction monitoring, quality assurance, risk assessments, and compliance reviews. The role will also involve helping to identify defects and maintenance requirements, monitoring progress against programmes, maintaining accurate technical records, and participating in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. A strong focus on safety, environmental standards, engineering quality, and operational reliability is essential.

Applicants should hold, or be working towards, a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, railway engineering, transportation engineering, or a related discipline. An interest in rail infrastructure and a willingness to work towards professional registration are desirable. You should have strong analytical, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to interpret technical information and use engineering software and standard office applications. Previous exposure to railway, civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects would be beneficial but is not essential. The successful candidate will be proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and willing to undertake travel to project and operational sites, sometimes outside normal office hours. A commitment to ongoing learning and adherence to health, safety, and technical procedures is required.
