Structural Engineer (Design Services)

We are seeking a Structural Engineer (Design Services) to deliver safe, practical and cost-effective structural solutions across a range of projects. Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will contribute to the development of structural schemes from initial concept through to detailed design, construction documentation and technical support. The role will involve collaborating with engineers, architects, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable standards and quality expectations.

Your responsibilities will include preparing calculations, specifications, technical reports, drawings and schedules for structural elements and systems. You will assess existing structures, undertake structural analysis and design using appropriate engineering principles and software, and review design information to identify risks, inconsistencies or opportunities for improvement. You will also assist with site investigations, inspections and surveys, provide technical advice during construction, respond to design queries and support the resolution of structural issues. Maintaining clear records and ensuring that work is delivered within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards will be an important part of the position.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil or structural engineering and have relevant professional experience in structural design. A sound understanding of structural analysis, construction methods, relevant codes and health and safety requirements is essential. Experience with design software, technical drawing packages and common office applications is expected. Professional registration or progress towards chartership would be advantageous. You should be analytical, organised and able to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail and a collaborative approach, while being capable of managing priorities and working independently when required.
