An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced water resources professional to lead the delivery of complex projects across flood risk management, drainage, water infrastructure and catchment planning. This role will combine technical leadership, project management and client engagement, providing the opportunity to shape high-quality solutions from feasibility through to completion.
You will manage multidisciplinary projects, coordinate teams and oversee the preparation of robust technical assessments, designs and reports. Working closely with clients, regulators, contractors and stakeholders, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead water resources and flood risk projects from inception, feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and implementation.
- Manage project scope, programmes, budgets, risks, resources and technical deliverables.
- Prepare and review flood risk assessments, hydraulic and hydrological modelling, drainage strategies, water management plans and environmental reports.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and support the development of project teams.
- Build effective relationships with clients, statutory authorities, regulators and other project stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development, including fee proposals, tenders, client presentations and the identification of new opportunities.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, technical standards, health and safety requirements and quality procedures.
About you
You will be a Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer, or hold an equivalent professional qualification, with substantial experience in water resources, flood risk, drainage or a related discipline. A degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology or a similar subject is expected.
Strong experience using industry-standard hydraulic and hydrological modelling software is essential, together with a sound understanding of UK planning, flood risk and environmental requirements. You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
In return, you will have the opportunity to work on varied and meaningful projects, develop your leadership capability and contribute to resilient, sustainable water management solutions. Flexible working arrangements and continued professional development are available.
