You will manage project scope, programme, budget and quality, while working closely with clients, contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams. The role requires a practical understanding of water resources engineering, strong commercial awareness and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of water resources, flood risk management and drainage projects.
  • Prepare and review hydraulic and hydrological assessments, modelling outputs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
  • Develop project programmes, fee proposals, risk registers and resource plans.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and provide guidance to engineers and technicians.
  • Manage client relationships, attend meetings and present recommendations with confidence.
  • Support planning, consenting and regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Review designs and documentation to maintain high standards of safety, quality and sustainability.
  • Contribute to business development, bids and the continuous improvement of technical processes.

About you

You will be a qualified civil or water resources engineer with substantial experience delivering relevant projects in a consultancy, contractor or client-side environment. Chartered status, or active progress towards chartership, would be advantageous. Experience with hydraulic modelling software, flood risk assessments, surface water management and drainage design is highly desirable.

You should be organised, commercially aware and confident taking ownership of projects. A collaborative approach, sound judgement and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will also need to manage competing priorities effectively and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence, health and safety and sustainable engineering solutions.

A competitive salary and benefits package is available, alongside opportunities for professional development, flexible working and involvement in high-profile projects that create lasting value for communities and the environment.
