We are seeking an experienced Tunnel / Underground C&C Expert to provide specialist leadership across complex underground construction and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in command-and-control systems, underground operations, construction coordination, and the safe management of works in challenging tunnel environments. This role is suited to a technically confident professional who can combine strategic oversight with hands-on coordination in the field.

Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining operational control procedures for tunnel and underground activities; coordinating interfaces between construction, engineering, safety, security, ventilation, communications, and emergency response teams; and monitoring project activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, risk assessments, method statements, and applicable regulations. You will support the implementation of control-room processes, communications protocols, incident escalation arrangements, access management, and emergency preparedness. The role will also involve reviewing technical documentation, identifying operational risks, supporting testing and commissioning activities, and ensuring that accurate records, reports, and control logs are maintained.

Applicants should have substantial experience in tunnelling, underground construction, mining, major infrastructure, or a comparable high-risk operational environment. A strong understanding of underground command-and-control principles, site coordination, work permits, monitoring systems, and emergency management is essential. Experience with tunnel control rooms, SCADA or similar monitoring platforms, operational communications, and integrated testing will be highly valued. You should be able to interpret engineering information, make sound decisions under pressure, and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. A relevant technical, engineering, construction, or operational qualification is desirable, together with a strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards. The position may require flexible working hours, including shifts, nights, weekends, and emergency call-outs depending on project requirements.
