Assistant Project Manager - Underground Utilities
Assistant Project Manager – Underground Utilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of underground utilities projects across a range of infrastructure and civil engineering schemes. This role would suit a motivated construction or project professional who is keen to develop their career while working on complex, safety-critical projects.
Working closely with the Project Manager, site teams, designers, subcontractors and utility providers, you will help coordinate works from planning through to completion. You will contribute to effective project control, maintain clear communication between stakeholders and help ensure that works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, programming and coordination of underground utilities works, including drainage, water, gas, electricity and telecommunications.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project programmes, progress reports, risk registers and project documentation.
- Monitor site progress, productivity, quality and compliance with approved designs, specifications and method statements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and specialist utility contractors, ensuring works are properly sequenced and resourced.
- Attend site meetings and contribute to progress reviews, technical discussions and coordination meetings.
- Assist with commercial administration, including monitoring costs, variations, valuations and procurement activities.
- Help identify project risks and support the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.
- Promote excellent health, safety and environmental standards across all project activities.
About you
You will have experience in a construction, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure environment, ideally with exposure to underground services and live-site coordination. A relevant qualification in construction management, civil engineering or project management is desirable, although practical experience and a willingness to learn will also be valued.
You should be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with a wide range of people. The ability to interpret drawings and technical information, manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure is essential. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may be required.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience, take on increasing responsibility and progress within a supportive project delivery environment.
