An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the successful delivery of underground wet utilities projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will suit a confident construction professional with a strong background in water, wastewater, drainage or related civil engineering works, together with proven experience managing complex projects on site.
You will be responsible for coordinating project activities, supervising delivery teams and ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and within budget. The position involves regular engagement with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and statutory authorities, requiring excellent communication and commercial awareness.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including mobilisation, programming, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors undertaking excavation, trenching, pipe installation, manholes, pumping stations and associated reinstatement works.
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes, monitor progress and implement recovery plans where required.
- Control project budgets, valuations, variations, procurement and cost reporting.
- Ensure all works comply with approved designs, specifications, permits, health and safety legislation and environmental requirements.
- Review technical information, identify risks and resolve design, construction and logistical issues efficiently.
- Chair progress meetings and provide accurate reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of quality, documentation, record keeping and client satisfaction.
Experience and qualifications
You should have substantial experience managing underground wet utilities or civil engineering projects, ideally involving water and wastewater infrastructure. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline is desirable, alongside recognised project management or site management certification.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience managing budgets, programmes, resources and multidisciplinary teams in a construction environment. Strong knowledge of temporary works, underground services, traffic management, risk assessment and construction documentation is expected. A full driving licence and the flexibility to travel between project locations may also be required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and practical Project Manager seeking responsibility for high-profile infrastructure works and the chance to contribute to safe, efficient and successful project delivery.
