We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Technical Director to provide strategic technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. This senior role will be responsible for shaping engineering solutions, supporting business development, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex programmes from feasibility and design through to construction and commissioning. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to clients, stakeholders, and project teams, providing clear direction on technical, commercial, regulatory, and delivery matters.

Key responsibilities will include leading multidisciplinary engineering teams; reviewing and approving technical designs, specifications, calculations, and reports; establishing design standards and quality assurance processes; and identifying innovative, resilient, and sustainable solutions. You will contribute to bids, proposals, resource planning, project governance, and risk management, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulators, and delivery partners. The role will also involve mentoring engineers and technical specialists, promoting knowledge sharing, supporting professional development, and fostering a culture focused on safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil, environmental, water, wastewater, or a related engineering discipline, together with significant experience delivering major water or wastewater projects. Professional registration or chartership is highly desirable, as is a strong understanding of relevant legislation, industry standards, asset management principles, and health and safety requirements. You will need a proven record of technical leadership, client engagement, project delivery, and team management, supported by excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with treatment processes, networks, pumping stations, water resources, or resilience and decarbonisation initiatives would be advantageous.
