We are seeking an experienced Traction Power Systems Coordinator to support the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of traction power activities across a complex rail infrastructure environment. The role will coordinate technical, operational and maintenance interfaces associated with traction power systems, including substations, overhead line equipment, third rail equipment, switching arrangements, protection systems and associated control infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, delivery and safety teams to ensure activities are properly planned, controlled and completed in accordance with approved standards.
Key responsibilities will include coordinating planned and reactive works; reviewing work plans, isolation requirements, access arrangements and technical documentation; supporting possession and engineering access planning; and ensuring all traction power activities are sequenced to minimise operational disruption. You will monitor work progress, identify risks, resolve coordination issues and maintain accurate records of isolations, inspections, defects, modifications and asset status. The role will also involve participating in technical reviews, incident investigations, assurance activities and emergency response arrangements, while helping to promote a strong safety culture and compliance with relevant legislation, procedures and industry standards.
Applicants should have substantial experience in traction power, railway electrical systems or a closely related infrastructure discipline, together with a sound understanding of electrical safety, isolation and earthing practices. A relevant technical qualification or recognised professional training is desirable, as is experience working within a regulated rail, transport, utilities or major infrastructure environment. You will need strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to interpret technical information, and confidence coordinating multiple stakeholders under time pressure. A methodical approach, attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions in safety-critical situations are essential. The successful candidate will be collaborative, proactive and committed to continuous improvement, with flexibility to work outside standard hours when operational requirements, incidents or planned possessions demand it.
