We are seeking a Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance Specialist to support the delivery of complex, safety-critical systems across their full lifecycle. The successful candidate will contribute to the definition, development, integration, verification, validation and in-service support of engineered solutions, ensuring that technical performance, safety and regulatory requirements are consistently achieved. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering, project, operations and supplier teams to establish clear system boundaries, interfaces, requirements and acceptance criteria.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining system engineering plans, specifications, architectures, requirements, interface definitions and compliance evidence. You will undertake requirements analysis, traceability reviews, hazard identification, risk assessment and safety justification activities, while supporting the preparation of safety cases and assurance documentation. The role will involve reviewing design outputs, verification and validation strategies, test results, engineering change proposals and supplier deliverables. You will also facilitate technical reviews, identify and manage system risks, provide expert advice to stakeholders, and ensure that non-conformances and safety issues are investigated, documented and resolved effectively.

Applicants should have experience in systems engineering, safety assurance, functional safety, risk management or a related engineering discipline, preferably within a regulated or safety-critical environment. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required, together with a sound understanding of systems engineering processes, lifecycle standards and structured assurance techniques. Familiarity with requirements management tools, modelling methods, hazard analysis techniques and safety standards will be advantageous. Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and work constructively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional registration or progress towards it, and experience preparing auditable engineering and safety documentation, would be desirable.
