Overview

Our client who is a specialist electrical engineering consultancy, focused on data centres and high-voltage infrastructure projects, is looking for an experienced Electrical Site Manager.

The Electrical Site Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating all electrical construction activities on site, ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of HV, MV, and LV installations. Working closely with subcontractors, project stakeholders, and commissioning teams, the role will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage permits and isolations, monitor progress against programme milestones, and ensure full compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all electrical site activities associated with HV, MV, and LV installations, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, site personnel, and labour teams, ensuring productivity, quality standards, and compliance with project requirements are always maintained.
  • Lead the installation, testing, and construction activities for high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage electrical systems, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with project specifications, health and safety requirements, quality procedures, and applicable regulatory standards throughout all phases of construction.
  • Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, commissioning, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of site activities and successful project delivery.
  • Monitor site progress against programme milestones, proactively identifying risks, resolving technical issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain schedule and quality objectives.
  • Manage and control permit-to-work systems, switching programmes, isolations, and energisation activities, ensuring all works are carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, quality audits, and progress reviews, ensuring workmanship meets client expectations and project quality standards.
  • Support project reporting activities by providing accurate updates on progress, resource requirements, site constraints, and key project risks.
  • Act as the primary site-based electrical lead, facilitating effective communication between contractors, client representatives, engineering teams, and commissioning personnel.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering HV substation, transmission, or large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, installation methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Sound understanding of HSE legislation, safe systems of work, permit-to-work processes, and site safety management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and construction documentation.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Effectively managing communication and collaboration between project teams, subcontractors, commissioning personnel, clients, and other key stakeholders.
