Environmental Planner/ Scientist
We are seeking an Environmental Planner/ Scientist to support the delivery of environmental planning, assessment and advisory services across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role will involve working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, regulators and stakeholders to identify environmental risks, develop practical solutions and help ensure projects meet legislative, policy and approval requirements. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from early feasibility and planning through to assessment, approvals, construction and compliance.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and coordinating environmental impact assessments, planning reports, technical studies, management plans and approval documentation; undertaking environmental constraints and opportunities assessments; reviewing relevant legislation, policies and planning instruments; and supporting consultation with government agencies, landholders, community representatives and other stakeholders. You will also assist with site inspections, field investigations, data analysis, technical report writing, project scheduling and budget management. The role may involve coordinating specialist subconsultants and providing environmental advice during project implementation, including monitoring compliance and recommending corrective actions where required.
Applicants should have a degree in environmental science, environmental planning, natural resource management, geography, ecology, planning or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in environmental assessment, planning or approvals. Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, planning frameworks and approval pathways is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability and confidence working collaboratively are essential. Experience managing competing priorities, engaging with stakeholders and delivering high-quality work to agreed timeframes will be valued. Familiarity with geographic information systems, environmental databases and standard office software is advantageous. A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites may be required.
