Senior Associate Environmental Scientist

We are seeking a Senior Associate Environmental Scientist to provide technical leadership and project expertise across a diverse portfolio of environmental investigations, assessments and advisory assignments. This role will suit an experienced environmental professional who can combine strong scientific knowledge with commercial awareness, clear communication and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, regulators, contractors and project teams.

Key responsibilities will include planning and delivering environmental site assessments, due diligence investigations, remediation projects, impact assessments and monitoring programs. You will prepare and review technical reports, sampling plans, data interpretations, risk assessments and regulatory submissions, ensuring work is completed to a high professional standard and in accordance with relevant legislation, guidelines and quality systems. You will also provide technical advice on contaminated land, soil and groundwater conditions, environmental risks and practical remediation or management options. The position will involve coordinating fieldwork, supervising consultants and contractors, reviewing analytical results, managing project budgets and schedules, and contributing to proposals, tenders and business development activities.

Applicants should have a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in environmental consulting or a comparable technical environment. Demonstrated capability in contaminated land assessment, environmental sampling, data analysis and technical report writing is essential. Experience managing projects, mentoring junior staff and engaging with clients and regulatory authorities will be highly regarded. You will need strong organisational and problem-solving skills, sound commercial judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and safety. A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites are required.
