The Role

Are you ready to drive the clean energy transition through advanced digital power solutions? We are partnering with a world-leading hydropower technology and engineering group seeking a Control Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, modernization, and commissioning of complex automation and control architectures for major hydroelectric and pumped-storage installations across central Europe and global markets.

In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of control system engineering-from high-level architecture and software configuration to on-site validation-ensuring that critical hydro assets operate with maximum safety, efficiency, and grid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control Architecture & Design: Engineer comprehensive PLC, HMI, and SCADA control frameworks tailored specifically for hydroelectric plants, including turbine governors, balance-of-plant systems, and high-voltage grid integration.
  • Software Engineering & Testing: Develop robust control logic adhering to IEC 61131-3 standards, perform virtual commissioning, and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Grid Compliance & OT Security: Ensure all control networks comply with stringent European grid codes (e.g., VDE guidelines) and industrial cybersecurity frameworks for Operational Technology (OT).
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with mechanical, electrical, and fluid dynamics teams to integrate digital control solutions into both greenfield projects and complex legacy plant upgrades.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 3-7+ years of professional background in control systems engineering, industrial automation, or power generation (direct hydroelectric, turbine control, or heavy rotating equipment experience is a major advantage).
  • Technical Mastery: Proven expertise with leading industrial automation and control platforms widely utilized in European heavy industry (e.g., Siemens SIMATIC S7/PCS7, ABB, or Schneider Electric).
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of power plant dynamics, such as turbine regulation, governor logic, water management systems, and pumped-storage operational workflows.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent, with fluent professional English (German language skills are a strong plus).

Why Apply?

  • Global Impact: Shape the future of sustainable, reliable baseload renewable energy by optimizing critical water-power infrastructure worldwide.
  • Professional Growth: Access clear technical and leadership career tracks within an industry-defining engineering leader.
  • Rewards: Competitive industrial remuneration package, comprehensive corporate benefits, and structured relocation assistance.
