  • Carry out functional testing, protection relay setting verification, loop checks, and interlocking/logic testing on site.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues arising during installation, testing, and commissioning, escalating and coordinating corrective actions as needed.
  • Act as the technical point of contact on site for contractors, subcontractors, and client personnel before and during commissioning phases.
  • Ensure work on site is carried out safely and in accordance with HSE requirements and site-specific procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, including test reports, punch lists, non-conformance reports, and as-built records.
  • Coordinate and lead the handover process to the client, ensuring documentation, test records, and outstanding items are properly closed out.
  • Provide feedback from site activities to the engineering and design teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Support project schedules by proactively flagging risks or delays related to installation, testing, or commissioning progress.

  • Experienced in protection and control systems for transmission infrastructure up to and including 132kV.
  • Good understanding of protection and control philosophy for substations, and of testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Experience coordinating on-site activities with contractors and clients, and comfortable taking technical ownership on site.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including extended periods on-site, domestically and/or internationally as required by projects.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

  • Experience with IEC 61850-based systems and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with SCADA and station automation systems.
  • Relevant site safety certifications (e.g. working at heights, first aid, high-voltage safety courses).
  • Experience working within the Norwegian power grid sector or with Norwegian utilities.
  • Experienced in protection and control systems for transmission infrastructure up to and including 400kV.
