Senior Engineering Lead - Hydropower & Infrastructure (Canada)

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join a consulting engineering business during the early stages of its Canadian expansion. You will play a key role in establishing and strengthening the local technical presence, with an initial focus on a major Hydropower project while helping shape a sustainable, long‑term platform for growth in Canada.

The role suits someone who enjoys building something meaningful - combining hands‑on technical leadership with mentorship, client engagement, and contribution to future work‑winning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the design and delivery of large‑scale infrastructure projects in Canada, with a primary focus on hydropower and pumped storage, ensuring technical excellence across all project phases.
  • Provide technical leadership to the local engineering team, including work allocation, design review, QA/QC oversight, and day‑to‑day technical decision‑making.
  • Act as a key technical and professional interface with clients, partners, contractors, and authorities, supporting permitting, approvals, and stakeholder engagement processes in Canada.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Canadian business, including mentoring engineers, supporting proposals and tenders, sharing local market insight, and helping strengthen long‑term client relationships.
  • Work closely with colleagues mobilised from other regions, helping integrate international expertise with strong local delivery capability.

About You

  • 15+ years' experience in civil, hydraulic, geotechnical, geomechanical, or underground engineering, with a strong track record delivering complex infrastructure projects.
  • Hydropower or pumped‑storage experience is strongly preferred, though candidates from closely related heavy civil or underground backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline (Bachelor's or Master's level).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registration in Canada is a significant advantage, or clear eligibility to obtain it.
  • Demonstrated local Canadian market knowledge, including familiarity with clients, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure delivery practices in Ontario or wider Canada.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to operate confidently in a multi‑disciplinary, multi‑cultural environment.
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative mindset, with a genuine interest in helping build and grow a long‑term, stable engineering presence in Canada.
  • Fluent in English; French is an asset.

What's on Offer

  • Permanent position with a market‑competitive salary aligned to senior‑level engineering leadership roles in Canada.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including premium health insurance.
  • The opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping a growing Canadian engineering team, with real long‑term career progression for those looking to grow with the business, not just fill a role.
