Overview

We are working with a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Technical Lead (SME) to support the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the United States.

This is a high-impact, client-facing role suited to a technical expert with deep experience in large-diameter linear infrastructure, looking to influence project delivery, mentor teams, and contribute to strategic growth in the water sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Technical Lead on large, complex water and wastewater infrastructure programmes
  • Oversee and review engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Lead technical quality assurance and coordinate multi-disciplinary design inputs
  • Develop technical approaches and fee proposals for new project opportunities
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering and design teams
  • Represent technical capability through client engagement, presentations, and industry involvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 12+ years' experience in water/wastewater infrastructure (flexibility for strong expertise)
  • Proven experience in large-diameter (72"+) pipeline systems, including:
    • Water transmission mains
    • Sewer force mains and gravity systems
    • CSO and/or stormwater conveyance systems
  • Experience with trenchless technologies for pipe installation and rehabilitation
  • Strong background in design, assessment, and rehabilitation of linear infrastructure
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity across multiple states)

Desirable:

  • Experience with pumping stations and water storage systems
  • Established client relationships within water/wastewater or resilience sectors
