Field Engineer
Field Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and practical Field Engineer to provide technical support, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting services across a range of customer sites. This role will suit an adaptable professional who enjoys working independently, solving complex problems and delivering reliable outcomes in busy operational environments.
You will be responsible for commissioning equipment, carrying out inspections and planned preventative maintenance, and responding promptly to breakdowns or service requests. Working closely with customers, colleagues and external contractors, you will ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
Key responsibilities
- Install, test, commission and maintain engineering equipment and systems at customer locations.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Complete planned maintenance, site inspections and equipment performance checks.
- Prepare accurate service reports, job records and technical documentation.
- Provide clear guidance and basic training to customers and end users where required.
- Work collaboratively with internal engineering, project and customer service teams.
- Manage tools, parts and equipment responsibly, ensuring vehicles and stock remain serviceable.
- Follow all health and safety, quality and environmental procedures at every site.
About you
You will have previous experience in a field-based engineering, maintenance or technical support role, together with a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical expertise. Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and electrical or mechanical documentation are essential.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are required, along with a professional approach to customer service. You should be comfortable travelling regularly, working at height or in challenging environments where necessary, and managing changing priorities with minimal supervision. A full UK driving licence is essential, and willingness to undertake occasional overnight stays or out-of-hours work may be required.
What is offered
This position offers varied site-based work, ongoing technical development and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality engineering projects. You will receive appropriate training, support and the equipment needed to carry out your duties safely and effectively.
