You will be responsible for ensuring equipment and systems are installed, tested and maintained to the required technical and safety standards. The position involves regular travel to client locations, occasional overnight stays and working in a variety of industrial and commercial environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, commission, inspect and maintain complex equipment and systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose technical faults, identify root causes and complete effective repairs within agreed timescales.
  • Provide clear technical guidance and operational support to customers and colleagues.
  • Prepare accurate service reports, maintenance records, risk assessments and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, service teams, subcontractors and customers to support successful delivery.
  • Assist with site surveys, system upgrades, testing and technical improvement projects.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, procedures and industry standards.
  • Share knowledge with less experienced engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

You will have proven experience in a field-based engineering role, with a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic or control systems. A relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience is essential. Experience of installation, commissioning, fault-finding and preventative maintenance within a customer-facing environment would be highly advantageous.

You should be comfortable interpreting technical drawings, manuals and schematics, and using diagnostic equipment and digital reporting systems. Excellent communication skills, sound judgement and a structured approach to problem-solving are essential. A full UK driving licence is required, together with flexibility to travel as the role demands.

In return, you will receive a competitive salary, ongoing technical development and the opportunity to work on varied projects with a high degree of responsibility. Further benefits may include a company vehicle or allowance, pension contributions and private healthcare.
