Gas Turbine Project Engineer
Gas Turbine Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gas Turbine Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex energy and power-generation projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to manufacturing, installation, commissioning and handover.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal engineering teams, you will ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed technical, commercial and programme requirements. This role would suit an experienced project or mechanical engineer with a strong understanding of gas turbine systems and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a technically demanding environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate gas turbine project engineering activities from design through to completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, technical documentation, engineering deliverables and progress reports.
- Review customer specifications, contracts and technical requirements, identifying risks, assumptions and opportunities.
- Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, electrical, controls, civil and commissioning disciplines.
- Manage technical queries, design changes, non-conformances and engineering risks.
- Support procurement by preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier documentation.
- Attend design reviews, customer meetings, factory acceptance tests, site visits and commissioning activities as required.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, industry standards, quality procedures and health and safety requirements.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, power engineering or a related discipline, together with proven experience delivering projects involving gas turbines, rotating equipment or power-generation systems. Experience of project engineering within an industrial, energy, oil and gas, or heavy engineering environment would be advantageous.
You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, managing stakeholders and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving are essential. Familiarity with project management tools, engineering standards and configuration control processes would be beneficial.
The role may involve occasional travel to customer and supplier sites, including international locations. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects while developing your career within a collaborative engineering environment.
