Lead Project Planner and Scheduler
Lead Project Planner and Scheduler
We are seeking an experienced Lead Project Planner and Scheduler to provide expert planning, scheduling and project controls support across complex programmes. This is an opportunity to influence delivery from early concept through to completion, working with multidisciplinary teams to establish realistic plans, monitor progress and drive successful outcomes.
You will lead the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules, ensuring that key activities, dependencies, milestones and resource requirements are clearly defined. Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, commercial colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders, you will identify potential delays, assess schedule impacts and support the implementation of effective recovery plans.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage baseline, detailed and integrated project schedules using recognised planning techniques.
- Coordinate regular schedule updates, progress measurement and forecasting activities.
- Analyse critical paths, float, trends and schedule performance, providing clear reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Identify risks, opportunities, interfaces and potential delays, recommending practical mitigation measures.
- Support change control, variations, resource planning and the assessment of time-related impacts.
- Facilitate planning workshops and ensure alignment between internal teams, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Produce accurate dashboards, reports and presentations for project and programme governance.
- Coach and provide technical guidance to junior planners and project controls professionals.
About you
You will have significant experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally gained within a complex engineering, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing or similar environment. You should be confident managing schedules across multiple workstreams and communicating technical information clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Applicants should have strong knowledge of planning principles, project controls and schedule analysis, together with practical experience using industry-standard planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent. A structured approach, sound commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail are essential. The ability to challenge constructively, build effective relationships and work confidently under pressure will be highly valued.
A relevant professional qualification or membership of a recognised project, planning or engineering body would be advantageous. In return, you will join a collaborative environment offering varied project exposure, professional development and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to successful delivery.
