We are seeking a Customer Project Engineer to manage the successful delivery of complex gas upgrade projects from initial customer requirement through to completion and handover. This role will involve coordinating multiple stakeholders, developing practical engineering solutions and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with customers, contractors, design teams, commercial colleagues and operational personnel to ensure that technical and service expectations are consistently met.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing customer requirements, preparing scopes of work, producing and checking technical documentation, coordinating surveys and design activities, and managing project programmes, risks and budgets. You will oversee installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities, resolving technical issues and managing changes as they arise. The role will also require you to monitor contractor performance, maintain accurate project records, support procurement and commercial processes, and provide clear progress updates to customers and internal stakeholders. A strong focus on health, safety, environmental compliance and quality will be essential throughout every stage of delivery.

Applicants should have experience in project engineering, gas infrastructure, utilities, mechanical engineering or a closely related technical environment. You will need a sound understanding of engineering standards, construction practices, commissioning processes and risk management, together with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical reports. Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the confidence to manage competing priorities and engage effectively with customers and delivery partners. A relevant engineering qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience is required; professional registration or working towards it would be advantageous. The role may involve travel to customer and project sites, so a full driving licence and flexibility to work across different locations are desirable.
