Project Planner (Private Land Development)
Project Planner (Private Land Development)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Planner to support the successful delivery of private land development projects from initial feasibility through to completion. This role will suit a highly organised planning professional with a strong understanding of development programmes, project controls and the planning requirements associated with residential, commercial or mixed-use schemes.
Working closely with project managers, consultants, landowners, contractors and statutory authorities, you will develop and maintain realistic project programmes, monitor progress and provide clear reporting on key milestones, risks and dependencies. You will play an important role in ensuring that projects remain aligned with agreed objectives, budgets and timescales.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain and update detailed project programmes using suitable planning software.
- Coordinate inputs from internal teams, consultants, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Track planning applications, technical approvals, surveys, design development, procurement and construction activities.
- Identify critical paths, potential delays, programme conflicts and opportunities for recovery.
- Produce regular progress reports, dashboards and schedule updates for senior stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings, contribute to action planning and ensure agreed activities are recorded and monitored.
- Support risk management by assessing programme implications and proposing practical mitigation measures.
- Review contractor and consultant programmes, ensuring they are logically sequenced and appropriately resourced.
About you
You will have previous experience in project planning, programme management or project controls within private land development, construction, property or a related environment. A sound understanding of the development lifecycle, planning processes and construction sequencing is essential, together with the ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly.
You should be confident working with planning software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with a range of stakeholders. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the confidence to challenge programme assumptions are also important.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a varied portfolio of development projects while working in a collaborative and professionally supportive environment.
