The successful candidate will manage a varied programme of infrastructure, property, facilities or asset improvement projects. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, statutory bodies and community stakeholders, you will provide clear direction, maintain strong governance and ensure that risks, dependencies and project changes are effectively controlled.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, risk registers and reporting arrangements.
- Lead the procurement and appointment of consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Coordinate feasibility studies, surveys, design development, planning approvals and construction activities.
- Monitor programme performance, costs, quality, health and safety, environmental matters and compliance requirements.
- Prepare concise reports, recommendations and progress updates for senior stakeholders and governance boards.
- Manage variations, claims, technical issues and escalations, ensuring timely and well-documented resolutions.
- Build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and promote collaborative project delivery.
- Capture lessons learned and ensure appropriate handover, documentation and post-project evaluation.
About you
You will have substantial experience managing complex capital works or major improvement programmes, ideally within the public, property, infrastructure, transport, utilities or regulated sectors. A relevant qualification in project management, construction, engineering, surveying, architecture or a related discipline is desirable. Professional accreditation, such as APM, PRINCE2 or an equivalent, would be advantageous.
You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident interpreting financial, technical and performance information. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise competing demands, make sound decisions and maintain momentum in a changing environment.
What is offered
This is an opportunity to deliver projects that provide lasting improvements to services, assets and communities. A competitive salary, benefits package and opportunities for professional development are available.
