Senior Project Engineer - Capital Improvement Projects

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the delivery of capital improvement projects from initial planning through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out. This role will manage multiple projects involving infrastructure, facilities, utilities, equipment, and process improvements, ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. The successful candidate will coordinate internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and suppliers while maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include developing project scopes, estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and execution plans; reviewing engineering designs, specifications, drawings, and technical submissions; managing tendering and procurement activities; and providing technical direction during construction. You will monitor progress, costs, quality, safety, and compliance, identify and resolve technical or commercial issues, and oversee change control, claims, and contract administration. The role will also involve coordinating inspections, testing, commissioning, handover documentation, and lessons-learned activities. You will prepare reports for senior stakeholders and ensure that project records, approvals, and documentation are complete and accurate.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical, process, or another relevant engineering discipline, together with substantial experience delivering capital projects in an industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities, or similar environment. Professional registration or progress toward chartered status is desirable. Strong knowledge of engineering standards, construction practices, health and safety requirements, project controls, and contractor management is essential. You will need excellent organisation, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a complex project environment. Experience with project management software, cost control systems, risk management, and multidisciplinary design coordination would be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative approach and a strong commitment to safe, sustainable, and high-quality project delivery are expected.
