Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater
We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial concept through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in civil, process, mechanical or electrical projects who is confident working across multidisciplinary teams and managing the technical, commercial and programme requirements of complex schemes. You will contribute to the successful delivery of projects that improve essential water and wastewater services and provide long-term value to customers and communities.
Your responsibilities will include developing and reviewing designs, specifications, scopes of work and technical documentation; coordinating consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders; and monitoring project progress against agreed time, cost, quality and safety objectives. You will support procurement and tender activities, assess technical submissions, manage design interfaces and help resolve construction or commissioning issues. The role will also involve attending site meetings, carrying out inspections, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, maintaining accurate project records and contributing to progress reporting. You will ensure that works comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, contract requirements and environmental obligations, while promoting a strong culture of health, safety and quality.
Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification and have practical experience delivering projects within the water, wastewater, utilities, construction or related infrastructure sectors. A sound understanding of project management principles, construction processes, design coordination and relevant health and safety requirements is essential. Experience with contract administration, cost control, risk management and commissioning would be advantageous. You should be organised, commercially aware and able to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, contractors and technical specialists. The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and make informed decisions in a changing environment is important. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project and operational sites may be required.
