Project Engineer - Land Development
Project Engineer - Land Development
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality land development projects across the residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors. This role will suit an experienced civil engineer who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and concept design through to construction and completion.
You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and statutory authorities to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a varied portfolio of projects while taking responsibility for technical delivery, programme coordination and client communication.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil engineering designs for roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities and associated infrastructure.
- Produce technical reports, specifications, calculations, drawings and construction documentation.
- Coordinate project activities with internal teams, external consultants, contractors and approving authorities.
- Support planning, feasibility and due diligence assessments for land development schemes.
- Monitor project budgets, programmes, risks and deliverables, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Attend site meetings, undertake inspections and provide technical support during construction.
- Review contractor submissions and ensure works comply with approved designs, standards and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to business development, fee proposals and the mentoring of junior team members.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or a related consultancy environment. A professional membership or progress towards chartership with a recognised engineering institution would be advantageous.
You should have sound knowledge of UK design standards, drainage principles, highways requirements and the planning and approvals process. Experience using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, drainage design software or similar packages is desirable. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships.
What is offered
This role provides a supportive working environment, varied technical challenges, professional development opportunities and a clear route for career progression. Flexible working arrangements and a competitive salary and benefits package are available, depending on experience.
