An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to completion. This role would suit an experienced engineering professional with a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, project coordination and the operational requirements of the water sector.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the planning, design, procurement and delivery of projects including treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and associated infrastructure. You will liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and regulatory stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the management and delivery of water and wastewater projects to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, calculations, risk assessments and construction methodologies.
  • Co-ordinating design activities and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Preparing technical reports, progress updates, project documentation and cost information.
  • Working with site teams and contractors to monitor progress, quality, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Contributing to tender submissions, procurement activities, change control and project risk management.
  • Maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

About you

You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in the design or delivery of water and wastewater projects. Experience of working within regulated infrastructure, construction or consultancy environments would be highly advantageous.

You should be confident interpreting engineering information, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively across technical and commercial teams. Knowledge of relevant British Standards, water industry specifications, health and safety legislation and environmental requirements is desirable. Experience with project management systems and design software would also be beneficial.

A proactive approach, strong organisational skills and clear written and verbal communication are essential. In return, this role offers the opportunity to work on varied infrastructure projects, develop your technical and project management expertise, and contribute to improvements in essential water and wastewater services.
