An experienced Generator Project Engineer is required to manage the successful delivery of generator and temporary power projects from initial enquiry through to completion. Working closely with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal teams, you will ensure that each project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical standards. The role will involve interpreting customer requirements, developing practical power-generation solutions and coordinating activities across multiple projects.
Key responsibilities will include preparing technical and commercial proposals, reviewing specifications, producing project programmes and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will coordinate equipment selection, generator installation, commissioning, maintenance and demobilisation, while ensuring all works comply with relevant legislation, industry standards and client requirements. You will also manage project documentation, risk assessments, method statements, design information and technical reports, as well as supporting procurement and ensuring equipment and resources are available when required.
Applicants should have proven experience in generator engineering, power generation, electrical engineering, or a closely related project delivery environment. A sound understanding of generators, distribution systems, load requirements, fuel systems and associated electrical infrastructure is essential. You should be comfortable working with technical drawings, schedules, budgets and project management tools, with the ability to identify risks and resolve issues promptly. Strong communication and organisational skills are required, together with a customer-focused approach and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Relevant electrical or engineering qualifications are desirable, alongside experience of supervising contractors and working in operational or construction environments. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may also be required.
