We are seeking a Water Resources Engineering Specialist to support the planning, design and delivery of projects that promote the sustainable management of water resources. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise across water supply, drainage, flood risk management, hydrology, hydraulic modelling and environmental protection. This role will involve working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, regulators and stakeholders to develop practical, resilient and cost-effective solutions that meet current and future needs.
Key responsibilities will include undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments; preparing water resource strategies, flood risk assessments, drainage designs and technical reports; developing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and digital models; and contributing to feasibility studies, options appraisals and detailed design activities. You will interpret relevant legislation, standards and guidance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide sound technical advice throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also involve reviewing data, site information and existing infrastructure, supporting planning and consenting processes, monitoring programme and budget requirements, and presenting recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in water resources or associated infrastructure. Experience with hydraulic and hydrological modelling software, data analysis tools and technical design packages is desirable, as is knowledge of flood risk legislation, sustainable drainage systems, catchment planning and environmental assessment. You will be expected to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities. A collaborative approach, commitment to health and safety, and willingness to pursue or maintain professional registration are also important. This is an opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects that improve resilience, protect communities and support the sustainable use of water.
