Environmental Engineer - Water Services Group

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join a Water Services Group and contribute to the planning, design, delivery and improvement of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role is suited to an engineer who combines strong technical capability with a practical understanding of environmental performance, regulatory requirements and sustainable water management. You will work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, planners, contractors, regulators and community stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient and environmentally responsible outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing environmental assessments, impact studies, management plans, approvals documentation and technical reports for water, wastewater, treatment, drainage and related infrastructure projects. You will identify environmental risks, recommend mitigation measures and support compliance with applicable legislation, permits, standards and project conditions. The role will also involve contributing to environmental monitoring programs, audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. You may assist with feasibility studies, option assessments, design reviews, construction support and the development of sustainability strategies, including resource efficiency, climate resilience and protection of waterways and surrounding ecosystems.

Applicants should hold a degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental science or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in water, wastewater, infrastructure or environmental consulting. Knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals processes, water quality, contamination management and environmental management systems is desirable. Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret technical information and present practical recommendations to varied audiences. Experience with risk assessment, data analysis, project coordination and engagement with regulators or contractors will be highly regarded. You will be organised, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work while managing competing priorities. A current driver’s licence and the ability to undertake site visits may be required.
