We are seeking an Engineer I – Water/Wastewater to support the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects that improve water supply, wastewater collection, treatment, and related utility systems. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists on projects from initial assessment and concept development through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
Key responsibilities include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates; assisting with hydraulic modelling and the evaluation of water and wastewater treatment processes; reviewing plans and submittals for compliance with project requirements; and supporting field investigations, site inspections, surveys, and construction administration activities. You will help collect, analyse, and interpret technical data, coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders, and contribute to solutions that meet applicable codes, regulations, health and safety standards, and client objectives. The role may also involve attending project meetings, tracking deliverables, responding to technical queries, and assisting with project documentation and quality control.
A bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in water, wastewater, utilities, hydraulic analysis, treatment systems, or infrastructure design is beneficial. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn new engineering methods and software. Familiarity with engineering design tools, computer-aided drafting, hydraulic modelling applications, and Microsoft Office is advantageous. The successful candidate will be organised, collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while working under the guidance of senior professionals. Eligibility for professional engineering registration, or active progress toward it, is preferred. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
