We are seeking an experienced Signalling Engineer to support the design, development, installation, testing and maintenance of railway signalling systems. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to safe, reliable and compliant signalling solutions across a range of infrastructure and renewal projects. The role may involve both office-based engineering activities and site-based support, with occasional travel and out-of-hours work required during testing, commissioning or operational interventions.

Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing signalling designs, technical specifications, engineering calculations, drawings and project documentation in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements. You will assess signalling assets and systems, identify technical risks, support design assurance and provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle. You will also liaise with project managers, construction teams, operators, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Applicants should have relevant experience in railway signalling engineering, with a sound understanding of signalling principles, control systems, interlocking, points, level crossings, train detection and associated telecommunications or power interfaces. Experience of design, testing and commissioning, fault investigation or maintenance would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and standards, preparing clear engineering reports and contributing to formal reviews. A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is required, together with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. Professional registration or progress towards it is desirable. Effective communication, structured problem-solving and the ability to work independently or collaboratively are essential.
