Signalling Expert / Systems Integrator - APAC Region

An opportunity is available for an experienced railway signalling professional to join a government-led programme focused on the independent technical review of an existing commuter railway network.

The assignment will involve a comprehensive assessment of existing signalling, train control and systems integration arrangements across a live railway environment. The successful candidate will act as a senior technical authority, providing expert recommendations to improve safety, reliability, operational performance and system integration.

This is a highly visible position, requiring direct engagement with senior stakeholders and the ability to provide independent technical opinions on complex railway systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct an independent technical review of existing signalling and train control systems.
  • Assess the performance, condition and suitability of current signalling infrastructure.
  • Evaluate systems integration between signalling, telecommunications, rolling stock, SCADA, operational control systems and other railway subsystems.
  • Review accident investigations, technical reports, operational procedures and maintenance records.
  • Identify technical risks, system vulnerabilities and areas requiring improvement.
  • Benchmark existing systems against international railway standards and industry best practice.
  • Produce technical findings, recommendations and improvement strategies for government stakeholders.
  • Participate in workshops, presentations and technical review meetings with senior client representatives.
  • Support the development of corrective action plans and future upgrade recommendations.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience within railway signalling and train control systems.
  • Strong background in the technical review, design, assurance, operations or integration of railway systems.
  • Demonstrated experience on commuter, metro, suburban or mainline rail projects.
  • Excellent understanding of systems engineering and railway interfaces.
  • Experience investigating operational incidents, safety concerns or performance issues would be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working with government authorities, railway operators or public transport agencies is beneficial.
