Senior Mechanical Estimator - HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders across HVAC, plumbing and fire protection projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional with strong technical knowledge and a proven background in building services estimating. The successful candidate will work across a range of projects, from commercial and industrial developments to refurbishment and specialist installations, supporting the business in securing profitable work while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities will include reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules; developing detailed estimates, bills of quantities and cost plans; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; and identifying scope gaps, risks, exclusions and opportunities for value engineering. You will prepare clear tender submissions, pricing summaries and supporting documentation, while ensuring all estimates are delivered within agreed deadlines. The role will also involve liaising with clients, consultants, project teams, suppliers and subcontractors, attending site visits and pre-tender meetings, and contributing to post-tender negotiations and handover processes. You will be expected to maintain reliable cost data, monitor market conditions and support the improvement of estimating procedures and systems.

Applicants should have substantial estimating experience within mechanical building services, with demonstrable expertise in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. A strong understanding of construction methods, relevant regulations, technical specifications and commercial principles is essential. You will need excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills, together with the ability to interpret complex drawings and produce precise pricing information. Strong communication and negotiation skills are required, as is confidence working independently while collaborating effectively with wider project and commercial teams. Experience using estimating, take-off and Microsoft Office software is preferred. A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, building services or a related discipline would be advantageous, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.
